$2.3 billion. Fontbona is co-founder of mining company Pan American Silver, where she serves as a director. The company has operations across Latin America and Africa, and has a market cap of more than $6 billion. It took seventh place on Forbes’ list of largest silver producers in 2013. In 2013, Fontbona also became executive chairwoman of Antofagasta PLC (ANTO), one of Chile’s biggest mining companies; she became its CEO last year. In February 2014, Forbes announced that Fontbona was now worth $2.3 billion—up from $1.8 billion last year—making her one of four women billionaires on its list who live outside of North America or Europe.
