Fish

Eating fish like salmon is known to prevent diseases, keep your heart healthy, and help with weight loss. For example, salmon can help reduce blood pressure, which may reduce your risk of stroke. In addition, it’s also rich in omega-3 fatty acids that are known to improve eye health. Salmon is also good for your skin because it contains collagen that may lessen wrinkles. One serving provides all of your daily vitamin D needs as well. Since most people don’t get enough vitamin D in their diet naturally, supplementing with vitamin D fortified foods like salmon can be beneficial.

Quinoa

This grain-like seed is an excellent source of high-quality protein (that means it has all nine essential amino acids your body needs). It’s also rich in fiber, making it easier to digest than other sources of whole grains. Choose from white, red or black quinoa—all are low in calories, but still super satisfying. Try cooking up a batch of quinoa with some fresh fruits and spices for breakfast.

Spinach

This leafy green has nearly seven times more calcium than milk and twice as much vitamin C as oranges. These delicious nuts are also rich in magnesium, phosphorus, copper, calcium, riboflavin and zinc. You can enjoy almonds as snacks or incorporate them into your salads or baked goods recipes. Almonds are available year-round but are at their best during autumn months when they have been harvested from trees. At that time of year their prices drop too making them more affordable.
